2013 Rumors

We're hearing that the 2013 lineup will include the return of triple cranksets ... and the introduction of EPS at the Athena level. The latter is a move that will help Campagnolo introduce electronic shifting to the masses ... and perhaps take market share away from ShimaNO despite the fact that Campagnolo was later to the game.

Got a rumor? Email us: enorris [at] campyonly [dot] com.

  3. Good to hear about the return of the Campy triple. Compact double has its place, and that place is CX and gravel grinding. For brevets, credit card touring and other non-racing road riding, give me a close range triple with a short arm derailleur!

  4. I agree about the triple. Middle-aged guys with arthritis in their knees need lower gears than a compact double can provide

But look what else you could get:
    Campagnolo cantilever brakes
Compact 50-36-26 (Maybe)triple which makes more sense than the old 30-40-52
If they also still produce the Flat bar shifter then you have a very different group than Campy has made in a long, long time

  5. When the triple did not appear in the printed catalog for the current season Larry expressed his displeasure to Campagnolo NA's Dan Large who said "it really didn't go away, don't worry" so he didn't...but hasn't tried to order any from his suppliers. We've both tried compact setups but still prefer 30-42-52 chainrings with a 26 (or even better for the Mortirolo, a 29)cog in back overall. Viva la tripla!
