I think it's silly. I roll with Campy 9 speed, but upgrade with real innovations, like Ultra-Torque cranks.
ReplyDeleteWhether 9, 10, or 11 speeds, it's importance or insignificance really only matters to each individual, right? 11 speeds is a natural evolution of bike development, just as 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 speeds were. Silly is ceasing development.
ReplyDeleteI'm not convinced Campy's 11 speed chain is weaker than it's 10 speed. I think that's a dangerous assumption. Also, if people wanted really strong and heavy chains someone would make them. I'm sure you can make a really heavy chain for a modern drivechain that will last forever, and it'd be a boat anchor, just like the old chains. I am going to maintain the the sacrifice of strength is in the compromise for weight, not size.
