Can a Campy-Equipped Bike Be "Bike of the Year"?

The folks over at bikeradar.com have published their list of contenders for "Bike of the Year," and it's good to see that a number of their candidates are equipped with Campagnolo gruppos. Also nice to see that the highest gruppo in BikeRadar's list is Chorus--not a Record or Super Record-equipped bike to be seen (in the photo at left, a Veloce-equipped Argon 18). We've been fans of Campagnolo's lower-priced gruppos for years, and it's good to see the less-than-flagship lines getting some attention.

  1. We've always liked the Campagnolo groups lower down in the line, even before they became an official supplier! We've ridden Athena, Daytona, Centaur and Veloce in 8, 9 and 10 speed Ergopower versions for years. I hope they keep these always high quality but made with less exotic (as in heavier)materials and less expensive finish work. Top-o-the-line stuff is great and other makers stuff in those categories can be good but I don't find their lower priced groups nearly as durable as Campagnolo. larry@cycleitalia.com

  2. I like the bar hieght on the bike pictured. Too many bike have the bars far to low for saftey or comfort right now. That almost looks like a bike a real person could ride
